Well, it is beginning to get real. Nancy and I along with 3798 of our very close friends are moving to the next phase. At 5, they will lock in the pets (unsure if we are locked in but think so). Everything before now has been getting to know each other and rehearsal.
It is starting to rain and the skies are heavy. Nancy Jacobson Buchanan and I made our last trip to our cars. We brought in the registration information as we do not know what may happen to them. I will go on our home cameras soon to look at our house. Not sure what will happen there either.
We met an older woman who was lost in this process. She has become somewhat close to us. She has made two great comments. “This is surreal.” “We are on a great adventure.” Both are true.
There are other Iona Hope folks here and some who know us. Immediately around us we hear multiple languages.
Nancy and I are aware of our situation. We rolled the dice on the path of Irma and we chose wrong. It happens more than we will admit, just not with hurricanes. We believe that we are in the best place that we can be except for far away.
We are learning the wisdom (yet again) of Jimmy Buffet, “you can’t reason with hurricane season.”
We are incredibly uplifted by your prayers. Thank you so much!
I will post more later. Please pray for others who stayed by necessity or choice. Pray, too, for those who are traveling to get away. And please pray for our after school children and families where ever they may be.
Remember, God is with all of us and loves every one of us, whether or not we
realize it.
That’s bigger than a hurricane.
Peace,
Ray
